Please share a memory of Beatrice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
North Creek:
Beatrice Helen Eggleston, 81, of Lane Road, passed away peacefully released from her pain on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Elderwood at North Creek Nursing Home after being surrounded by family and friends.
Born April 22, 1937 on the family farm, in North Chester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Cornelia Amanda (Goodspeed) Swinton of Ticonderoga and the late Ralph Guy Swinton of Salisbury, VT.
Following her graduation from Minerva Central School, Bea married the late Clarence (Buck) Richard Eggleston of Sodom, NY on June 12, 1955. She worked at the Grand Union in North Creek for over 22 years and provided a warm beacon of joy to everyone she met. For over a decade, she also worked as skin care consultant for Fashion Two Twenty. Bea’s greatest legacy was her kindness and thoughtfulness, always thinking of others before herself, right up to her last day.
Besides her parents and husband, she is predeceased her daughter Tina Hayes; her sisters Elsie Baxter, Elizabeth (Betty) Bolton, Jennie VanDusen; her brother Rollin Swinton and his wife Norma Jane Freebern; her brother-in-law Earl Degrush; and three infant brothers.
She is survived by her children: Ricky (Rick) Eggleston of Laguna Niguel, CA and his wife Janice; Bonnie Decook of North Creek and her husband Randy, son-in-law Barry Hayes of North Creek; five grandchildren: Keith Hayes of North Creek, Barry Hayes of Brant Lake, Tanya Anselmo of Warrensburg, Jessica Hill of Gansevoort, and Garrett Hill of North Creek; four step-grandchildren: Zachary Decook, Jacob Decook, Randy Decook, Mackenzie Fowler; sixteen great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her sister: Barbara DeGrush of Friends Lake; brothers-in-law: Roger Bolton of Chestertown, Morris VanDusen of Clifton Park, Richard Baxter of Brockway, PA; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Bea (Aunt Bea, or Gramma Bea), was blessed with a large, loving and close family; and was known to all to never refuse to help anyone - which is the Swinton family way. Many have said, “To know Bea is to love her”.
Friends may call on Bea’s family from 12 to 2 pm, Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the North Creek Firehouse, 134 Main St, North Creek, NY. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 2 pm, with a reception immediately following, all at the firehouse.
Burial will be conducted in Federal Flats Cemetery, Federal Flats Rd, Olmstedville at later date.
Bea’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the handful of caregivers: Loretta Galusha, Sue DeGrush, Mary Olesheski, and Inge Ruane, who gave Bea such comfort, care and joy during her final chapter; and also to all the staff at Elderwood at North Creek.
Donations in her name may be sent the American Cancer Society.
