In Remembrance of Professor William Burto
I was an English major at Lowell State from 1970 – 1974, and I was fortune to have William Burto as a professor for several classes. I cannot think of words grand enough to thank him for the love, care, and attention he gave to his students. His passion for every aspect of life was amazing. I will be forever grateful to him for seeing in me what I could not see in myself – a bright, 18-year-old, young woman with a world a possibilities ahead of her.
I am happy to know he lived a very long and very happy life. He was a beautiful, kind soul.
Thank you, Professor William Burto.

Bill and I edited The Hosta Journal from 1990 until 1996. Although I was the "official" Editor, I could not have done my job without Bill. He proofed all of the articles and provided me with invaluable advice.Too,his love of gardening was so wonderfully engaging. I shall never forget being with him when his entry in a national cut-leaf show won Best of Show.
He was a great person and friend--I feel very fortunate in having known him.
