Michael Bolton Clair, 82, of West Mountain Road, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Hillcrest Commons in Pittsfield, MA following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born February 22, 1935 in Teaneck, NJ, he was the son of the late Henry and Madalean (Bolton) Clair.
He married Lorraine Ruppert on April 12, 1958 in Dumont, NJ. Together, they just celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary.
Mike proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his honorable discharge in 1956, he began working with Bergen Evening Record in Hackensack, NJ where he remained for 21 years as circulation manager in 1977. In 1980, he began working for the Gannett Corporation until his retirement in 1997.
Mike loved to go camping with family and friends, as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lorraine Clair of Queensbury; his children, Barbara Clair Griffin of Glens Falls, Susan Clair Scriver of Glens Falls, Michael C. Clair and his wife, Denise of Dover Plains, Peter Clair and his wife, Christine of Wasaic, and Paul Clair and his wife, Candace of Kathleen, GA; grandchildren: Lindsay, Ryan, Christine, Lauren, Allyssa, Michael, Ronnie, Shayn, Jake, Allie, and Cara; great-grandchildren, Colton, Weston, Viviene, Kaden, Devynne and Leah; his sister, Nancy Hooper and her husband, Charles of Gales Ferry, CT; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Our Lady of the Annunciation RC Church, 448 Aviation Rd., Queensbury with Fr. Joseph Busch, officiating.
Friends may call on Mike’s family one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Burial with military honors will follow in Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Mike’s memory to the C. R. Wood Cancer Center at Glens Falls Hospital.
