Obituary of Elsie W. Hill

Warrensburg Elsie W. Hill, 88, of Oak St., passed away on Friday, August 18, 2006 at her home, surround by her loving family, following a 17 year battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born on July 20, 1918 in Warrensburg, the daughter of Gilbert and Myrtle (Cilley) Winslow. Elsie married Ellis E. Hill on July 15, 1939. Following Ellis’s service during WWII the couple settled into the old school house on Schroon River Rd., where the couple remained for 50 years, until moving to Oak St. in 1989. Mrs. Hill enjoyed singing and listening to music, crocheting, making afghans, reading and collecting glass bells. She was a life long member of the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church. She is predeceased by one brother Harry Winslow. Elsie is survived by her devoted and dedicated husband of 67 years, Ellis E. Hill; one son, Michael E. Hill and his wife, Nancy of Warrensburg; two grandchildren, Bethany Hitchcock and her husband, Robert of Olmstedville and Michael E. Hill Jr. of Warrensburg; one great-grandson, Tristen Hitchcock of Olmstedville, one brother Lawrence Winslow and his wife, Irma of Warrensburg; a sister-in-law, Muriel Winslow of Corinth, a special cousin, who was like Elsie’s sister, Marie Hastings and her husband, Robert of Warrensburg, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on the family on Monday, August 21, from noon until 2:00pm at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, where a funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Elsie’s first cousin, Father Nellis J. Tremblay, , officiating. Burial will follow at the Warrensburg Cemetery. Elsie’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bryan Smead and all of her caregivers over the many years. Also a thank you to High Peaks Hospice for Elsie’s care during her final days.
