Obituary of Bradley C. Tennyson

Please share a memory of Bradley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chestertown: Bradley C. Tennyson, 98, of Stock Farm Road, passed away peacefully, Friday, June 10, 2011 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek surrounded by his loving family. Born December 13, 1912 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Clarence and Effie (Moffitt) Tennyson. Bradley was a self employed logger, and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and hiking. For years, he supplied many people with the perfect Christmas trees and wreaths throughout the holiday season, as well as firewood, all while working behind his team of horses. He loved working on his farm, gardening and taking care of his farm animals. He also enjoyed walking over the mountain to Chestertown and back on a weekly basis. Known as “Gramps” to many who knew him, he’ll be remembered for his extra firm handshake, and at the age of 98, he was the longest living Tennyson in their family tree. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sons, Clarence and Floyd; three brothers, Harold, Francis and John; two half brothers, Harvey and James Moffitt; grandson, Charles H. Tennyson, Jr.; and one great granddaughter, Jennifer Moffitt. He leaves behind his five children, Charles H. Tennyson and his wife, Violet of Chestertown; Earl W. Tennyson and his wife, Arlene of Cohoes, Jeanette Cole and her husband, Walt of Chestertown; Ann Diamond of Oklahoma City, OK; Faye Tennyson of Lake George; half sister, Marjorie Springer of Adirondack; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on Bradley’s family from 6-8 pm, Monday evening, June 13 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 1 pm Tuesday, June 14 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Darrowsville Cemetery, Chestertown. The family would like to thank Director Hal Payne and the staff at Tri-County Nursing and Rehabiliation Center in North Creek for the loving care they extended to Bradley throughout the last year and for being his “friend”. Due to his love of animals, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the SPCA in Bradley’s memory.
