Obituary of Adorna E. Wright

Warrensburg: Adorna E. (Wheelock) Wright, 96, formerly of Warren St., passed away peacefully, Monday, July 25, 2016, at the Warren Center. Born December 18, 1919 in Thurman, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Josephine (Barton) Wheelock. Adorna was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed by Grand Union as a bookkeeper for 38 years, before retiring in 1978. She was active in the Women’s Society and Friends Circle of the Methodist Church, as well as the Hospital Guild of the Warrensburg Health Center and the Red Hat Society, and both the Warrensburg 50+ and Lake George Senior Citizens. She was the current Vice President of The Resident’s Counsel at Warren Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. In addition to her husband, Walter Wright, Sr., Adorna was predeceased by her close friend, Louise Hall. She is survived by two cousins, Joan Savaree of Bradenton, FL and Jean Savaree of Palo Alto, CA; as well as the Warren Center formerly Westmount residents, their families, volunteers and staff, who she thought of as family; and faithful friends, Vi, Fay, Morgan and Kyle. Friends may call on Adorna’s family from 12 to 2 pm, Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, NY 12885. A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 2 pm, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Warrensburg Cemetery.
