Obituary of Philip D. Goodman

Johnsburg: Philip D. Goodman, 82, formerly of Park Road, passed away, Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Adirondack Tri-County Health Care Center in North Creek following a long illness. Born June 14, 1925 in Johnsburg, he was the son of the late James and Frances (Shaw) Goodman. Phil graduated from Johnsburg Central School in 1943. He enjoyed the outdoors by hunting and working as a logger for nearly 50 years with his brother, Ned Goodman interrupted only by a stint in the US Army from 1951 to 1952 serving in Germany. Phil was the first Democrat elected in the town of Johnsburg for many years serving as an assessor from 1980 to 1993. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two infant sons, two sisters; Amelia “Middy” (Goodman) Huttig, and Frances (Goodman) Jennings, and one brother; John Goodman. Survivors include his two children, Phil Goodman and his wife, Anna of Johnsburg and Craig Goodman and his wife Diane of Pilot Knob; his sister, Kathryn (Goodman) Frentzos of Warrensburg; two brothers, James “Pat” Goodman of North Creek and Edward “Ned” Goodman of Johnsburg; seven grandchildren, Carrie and Elijah Goodman of Saratoga, Sascha and Elena Goodman of Pilot Knob, Kasie Davis of Johnsburg, Christopher Davis of Syracuse, Michele Davis of Hudson Falls, and one great grandson; Jesse Davis of Syracuse; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Phil’s family would like to thank Dolly Heath and all of the other staff at the Adirondack Tri County Nursing Home for their excellent care during his illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Adirondack Tri County Nursing home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am, Saturday, January 12 at St. James RC Church in North Creek with the Rev. John O'Kane officiating. Friends may gather with his family one hour prior to the mass in the church hall. A reception will follow the services at Tannery Pond Community Center.
