Obituary of Lillian F. Montfort

Johnsburg: Lillian F. Montfort, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Glens Falls Hospital. Born in Little Rock, AR on June 23, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Hattie (Archibald) Geater. She was the third of nine children. Lillian went to New York City in the 1930’s and began her career as an acrobatic dancer and also did some modeling. She gave it all up to become a wife and mother to William and Gloria. Lillian resided in the New York City area for over 70 years until 2002, when she moved to Johnsburg, residing with her son and daughter-in-law, Lois Montfort. Besides her parents, she is also predeceased by her husband, William, and six sisters and two brothers. Lillian is survived by her son, Bill Montfort and his wife, Lois; her daughter, Gloria Danet. She was also blessed with eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. She will be interred next to her beloved mother in Little Rock, AR. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Glens Falls Hospital, who did a wonderful job making Lillian and her family comfortable until the end.
