Obituary of Arthur W. Hastings

Lake George:
Arthur W. Hastings,83, formerly of Hendrick Street, passed away Friday, September 30, 2011, at Albany Stratton VA Hospital.
Born November 4, 1927 in Glens Falls he was the son of the late Arthur and Hilma Hastings.
Upon his graduation from Lake George High School, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps.
Arthur married Eva Reinertsen on April 29, 1952 in Northport, Long Island. The couple resided in Fresh Meadows, Queens where they began raising their family in Huntington Station.
He spent most of his working years at Texaco in Glenmont, New York and became a member of the Million Mile Club. After formally retiring from Texaco he worked for the Village of Lake George and then the State of New York at local picnic and camping facilities.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his daughter Gail Hastings and his beloved wife, Eva, who passed away September 21, 2006.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Frischknecht and her husband, Wade of Salt Lake City, UT; his son, Larry Hastings of Salt Lake City, UT.,grandchildren, Jessica, Sarah, and Jacob Frischknecht, and Andrew Hastings. He also leaves behind Joan Souvari, his dear companion in recent years of Colonie; and good friend Dave McAvinney.
A graveside memorial service will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, October 8, 2011 at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Warrensburg.
Upon Arthur’s request, there will be no calling hours scheduled.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Arthur’s name to United Methodist Church of Lake George or Lake George Emergency Squad.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stratton VA Hospital for their care during his fight with Pancreatic cancer.
