Obituary of Louise Douros

Please share a memory of Louise to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Chestertown: Louise Douros, 63, of Blythewood Island Road, passed away, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Glens Falls Hospital after a courageous two year battle with cancer. Born June 9, 1947 in the Bronx, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Dentico) Legreca. Louise married George W. Douros on December 24, 1971, after working on a project together through their jobs at the time with Blue Cross Blue Shield of NY. The couple have been happily married for 38 years. Louise retired as head of the Computer Science Department at Middlesex College in N.J. They began to raise their son Michael in Spotswoods, N.J. and later both retired to Louise’s childhood retreat on Bythewood Island. As a child, Louise grew up running around on the beaches of Loon Lake as did her son, Michael, every day of their lives. She always said her vacation was where she resided in the Adirondacks at Blythewood Island. Louise enjoyed gardening, painting, and scrabble with her great friends Carol and Barb. Louise leaves behind her devoted husband, George W. Douros of Chestertown; her loving son, Michael W. Douros and his wife, Tammy of Chestertown; loving step-daughter, Danielle Douros of Palm Beach, FL; grandchildren: Brittany Tschirhart, Devin Rivers and Juliette Douros; her brother, Carl Legreca and his wife, Rosalee; as well as many loving aunts, uncles, very special cousins, nieces and nephews. Expressions of love and thanks go out to all the doctors and nurses on the Oncology Floor at Glens Falls Hospital who made Louise’s Transition to God comfortable for her and her family. The people on that floor are truly angels in our eyes. Friend’s may call on Louise’s family from 1 to 4 pm, Sunday, December 12, 2010 at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 am, Monday, at St. Isaac Jogues-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Chestertown with Fr. John O’Kane, Pastor and Fr. George Fleming, concelebrating. Rite of Committal will follow in Pineview Cemetery, Queensbury. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to C.R. Wood Cancer Center, 102 Park Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801. Please visit www.alexanderfh.net for online guestbook, condolences and directions.
