Obituary of Henry C. Mosher

JOHNSBURG
Henry C. Mosher, 77, of South Johnsburg Road, passed away
Monday, April 24, 2006, surrounded by his loving family at his home in
Johnsburg.
Born on June 16, 1928, in Thurman, Henry moved to Johnsburg
as a young child. He was the oldest son of the late Fannie and Louis
Mosher Sr.
Henry attended Johnsburg Central School, at the age of 16 he
left school and went to work to help support his family.
He married Edna
Bateman on Oct. 29, 1949.
The couple resided at their current residence
where they raised their six children.
During their 56 years together
his loving wife, Edna, was his strongest supporter in his many
occupations. He was a man of several talents and interests. In his early years,
he worked in the woods logging, selling Christmas trees, making Maple
syrup, and managing a small dairy. He operated sawmills from the handset
design to the fully automatic design. He also ran a dry kiln, furniture
factory, garage, gas station and a diner. He had a wide variety of
hobbies and interests they ranged from traveling to Iowa, to Canada and
many other locations buying horses and ponies. He loved horses, especially
draft horses. He loved machinery also, particularly sawmills.
He had a
love for deer hunting. He truly loved the outdoors, whether, working or
enjoyment.
He also had a deep love for animals. He especially loved his
best friend of almost 20 years together, Ben, his partner, his dog.
Henry was a person that loved to talk and visit with people. He was very
dedicated to a strong family bond. He enjoyed having his family beside
him always. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
Besides his
parents, one grandson, Larry Lawrence, have all predeceased
him.
Henry's survivors include his wife, Edna; two sons, William and his wife,
Linda, and Richard and companion, Mary, all of Johnsburg; daughters,
Marylou Pierson and husband, Donald, of North Creek, Carol Lawrence and
companion, James, of Wevertown, Susan Hitchcock and husband, Daniel of
Bakers Mills, and Julie Cavanagh of North Creek; grandchildren, Marcus,
Bartrum, Jessica and Lynn Mosher, all of Johnsburg, Donald Pierson of
Glens Falls, Chad Pierson of Bakers Mills, Theresa Lawrence of Tupper Lake,
Timothy Lawrence of Johnsburg, Mellissa Mulvey of Bakers Mills, Daniel
Hitchcock, Air Force, Langley, Va., Courtney and Connor Cavanagh of
North Creek; 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and
cousins; five brothers, Levi, Edward, Louis Jr., Walter and Roger; four
sisters, Wilma LaFond, Viola Watson, Eva Conway and Darlene
Coulter.
Friends may call on Henry's family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
Funeral
services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church,
South Johnsburg Road, Johnsburg with the Rev. David Newkirk
officiating.
Burial will follow the funeral at Bates Cemetery,
Johnsburg.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Cameron, Stewart Baker, Duane Dunkley, Charlie
Redman, Jim Hayes, Butch Seville.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form
of a donation to a charity of one's choice.
Thank you to Helen, Glenda,
and Cathy for all your kindness and support. A special thank you to
Richard, Mimi and the girls for all you have given in caring for Dad. You
all made it possible for Dad to remain at home where he was most
comfortable. There is no great way to convey your love of our Dad. Thank you
all for everything.
