Dorothy C. “Dottie” Ziemendorf, 73, of Library Ave., passed away Monday, December 18, 2006 at her home, following a courageous battle with cancer, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born September 27, 1933 in Mansfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Wilford and Carol (Shaw) Forrest.
Dottie worked at the Mansfield Chocolate Factory for 15 years. She married Charles Sherwood and the couple move to Florida in 1973 and were together for 23 years before his passing in 1978.
She later married James Ziemendorf in Florida before his passing in 1987 after nine years together.
Dottie moved to Warrensburg in 1993 and worked at the Saratoga Hotel and the Warrensburg Laundry until retiring in 2001.
Her favorite pastimes included spending time with her family, doll collecting and tending to her beautiful flowers in her yard.
Besides her parents and husbands, her son, Neil Sherwood and daughter, Carol Sherwood; brothers, Robert, Alfred and Donald Forrest have also predeceased her.
Survivors include her children, Jane Joyce and her husband, Andy of Deland, FL, Donna Dunkley and her husband, Seth of Bakers Mills, Charles Sherwood of Michigan, Forrest Sherwood of Bradenton, FL, Lisa Maruszan of Ohio, Victoria Whitesell of Michigan, and Bruce Sherwood of Bradenton, FL; her siblings, Owen Forrest of Walpole, MA, Ruth Kidder of Penobscot, Maine, Margaret Loveday of Pottersville, and Winifred Thompson of Mansfield, MA; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call on Dottie’s family from 11 am until 1 pm Friday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
Funeral services will follow the visitation at 1 pm Friday at the funeral home with Sister Linda Hogan of St. Cecilia’s RC Church officiating.
Burial will take place in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Warrensburg.
Memorials may take the form of donations to the Warrensburg EMS, Warrensburg, NY 12885.
