Obituary of Virginia M. Smith

North Creek: Virginia Marie Smith, 70, of Igerna Road, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. Born in Chestertown on July 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Warren and Orcelia (Millington) Hill. Virginia was a lifelong resident of the area. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. When she wasn’t with her family, she enjoyed fishing, gardening, and browsing at local yard sales. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers, Wayne Millington and Francis Hill. She is survived by her former husband of 35 years, Ken Smith, Jr.; her long time companion of 12 years, John Elwin Austin; her children: Mike Smith and his wife, Rachel; Claralee Allard and her husband, Dan; Mark Smith and his wife, Sandy; Joseph Smith and his wife, Anne; and Karen Smith (Rhino); her brothers, Joseph and Timothy Hill; along with numerous grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Virginia’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family in the Igerna Cemetery in North Creek.
