Obituary of Ernest J. Ackley

Warrensburg: Ernest J. “Butch” Ackley, 62, of the Cross Road, passed away, Wednesday evening, December 6, 2006 at his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born May 9, 1944 in Albany, he was the son of the late, Genevieve Ackley. Butch retired from his position as the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds at the Warrensburg Central School in June of this year. He was a member of the Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81 in Queensbury. He enjoyed watching NASCAR with his friends and family and camping with his wife and beloved dog, Mitze. Working in his shop, fixing TV’s and VCR’s was very relaxing for him. Butch, must of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. Besides his wife of 18 years, Betty Ackley; survivors include his sister, Glenda Ash and her husband, Leroy and their children, Terry, Leroy, Jr. and Tammy of Fort Edward; his brother, Robert Cleveland and his wife, Phyllis and their son, James of Warrensburg; his first wife, Arline Ackley of Warrensburg; two sons, Ernest Ackley Jr. and his companion, Linda Parks of Warrensburg, Chip Aldrich and his wife, Ann of Athol; three daughters, Missy Ackley and her companion, Brent Bertrand of Warrensburg, DeeDee Roach and her husband, Jeff of Lake George, Heidi Rogers of Warrensburg; seven grandchildren, Andy Aldrich, Nick Ciccone, Kelsey Schumacher, Max and Bradley Roach, Samantha and Cassie Rogers; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Friends may call on Butch’s family from 11 am – 2 pm Saturday at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 2 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the North Caldwell Cemetery, Lake George. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund to be named in his memory, in care of the Warrensburg Scholarship Association, Warrensburg Central School, 103 Schroon River Rd., Warrensburg, NY 12885 Butch will be remembered for his big heart, great personality, and for the enormous love he had for his family.
