Obituary of Harold E. Ross

Bakers Mills: Harold E. Ross, 88, of State Route 8, passed away peacefully Monday, November 2, 2015 at Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born September 5, 1927 in Argyle, he was the son of the late Arnold and Gretchen (Cleveland) Ross. Harold married Isabelle A. Hitchcock on November 29, 1947; the couple spent 56 years together before her passing in 2004. He later married Joan Saville on May 28, 2005. Harold began his working years at National Lead in Tahwus, then spent many years as a logger. He was also employed by the Town of Johnsburg, Barton International, and Adirondack Tri-County Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Second to his family, Harold’s greatest loves were his draft horses, hunting, and fishing. In addition to his parents and late wife, Harold was predeceased by a brother, Joe. He is survived by his wife, Joan Ross; two daughters, Carol Cleveland and her husband, Daniel, and Ginny Dunkley and her husband, Royce, all of Bakers Mills; four grandchildren, Samantha Locke and her husband, Travis, Stephanie Cleveland, Cherie Benham and her fiance, Jeff Williams, and Benjamin Dunkley and his wife, Liz; and seven great-grandchildren, Sierra, Hayden, Owen, Jaxson, Isabelle, Connor, and Ryan; foster daughter, Dolly Heath and her family; siblings, Harry Ross and wife, Carol, James Ross and wife, Marilyn, Harriett Allen and husband, George, Barbara Ross, Howard Ross and wife, Pat; sister-in-law, Laura Ross; step-children, Chrissy Morehouse and her companion, Fred Keller, Leland H. Morehouse, Linda Patton and her husband, Asa, and Robert Austin and wife, Debbie; step-grandchildren, Jamie Perry and husband, Mike, Shane Karpensky, Dillon and Kelsey Conlon, and Micah Patton; step-great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Ariel, Ian, Madyson, Cat, and Easton. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Harold’s family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Thursday, November 5, 2015 at the Mountainview Community Church in Bakers Mills. A funeral service to celebrate his life will take place at 11 am, Friday, at the church with Rev. Nelson Koonce officiating. Burial will follow in Garnet Lake Wesleyan Cemetery. Pall Bearers willl be Dan Cleveland, Royce Dunkley, Travis Locke, Ben Dunkley, Jeff Williams, and Jim Ross.
