Obituary of Elizabeth F. Davis

North Creek: Elizabeth F. (Betty) Davis, 76, of Fairview Avenue, passed away peacefully, Saturday evening, November 14, 2009 at her son’s home in Argyle following a long illness, surrounded by her loving family. Born October 12, 1933, in Crown Point, she was the daughter of the late Millard and Freida (Walker) Gibbs. For over 20 years, Betty enjoyed her time as a chambermaid at the former Colonial Manor Motel in Lake George. She was an avid Bingo and daily numbers player, and also loved playing board games and card games with her family. In her early years, she was an accomplished softball player. Spending time with her youngest granddaughter, Cheyenne was one of her favorite pastimes. Besides her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Clarence J. Davis; her daughter, Ruth Mandy; a grandson, Michael Scheeren; and her brother, Kenneth Gibbs. Survivors include two sons, Randy LaFountain and his wife, Lisa of North Creek and Paul Davis and his wife, Anna, of Argyle; four daughters, Robin Scheeren and her husband, Walter of Schaghticoke, Regina Baker and her husband, Chuck of England, Julie West and her husband, Darren, of North Creek, and Tina Davis of Oregon; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Donald Gibbs of Port Henry, Roland Gibbs of Crown Point, Clarence Gibbs of Crown Point, Sonny Thatcher of Texas, three sisters, Joan Michaels of Poestenkill, Norma Wolfershiem of Mechanicville, Elaine Godsey of Florida; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call on the family from 4-7 pm Thursday evening at the Alexander Funeral Home, Inc., 4479 State Route 28, North River. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 7 pm, Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Trudy Pettibone, pastor of the North Creek Baptist Church, officiating. A reception will follow the services at the North Creek Fire House. Burial will take place at the conveniences of the family, Friday, in Union Cemetery, North Creek.
