Obituary of Sherman T. LaBounty

North Creek: Sherman T. LaBounty, 83, of Bird Pond Road, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 6, 2017 at Glens Falls Hospital with his loving family by his side. Born November 23, 1933 in Ausable Chasm, he was the son of the late Philip and Julia (Spooner) LaBounty. Sherman proudly served his country with the United States Army with the 508th paratroopers until his honorable discharge. He married Beverly R. Watson on July 7, 1956 in Ausable Forks. The couple worked together for 33 years at North Creek Woodworking where he was employed as plant manager; He and Bev retired together in 1999 and thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years. Besides spending time with his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and in his later years, dancing and bowling. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Beverly LaBounty, who passed away in 2013, as well as his two sisters, Patricia and Marjorie. He is survived by his children, Shelly Johnson of Orlando, FL, Julie Dower and her husband, Francis, of North Creek; Rhonda Richards and her husband, Mark, of North Creek; Glynn LaBounty and his longtime companion, Tanya, also of North Creek; grandchildren, Shawn, Carrie, Nicholas, Lynsey, Matthew, Benjamin, Kyle, and Kara; several great-grandchildren; his siblings, Helen Blaise, Rufus LaBounty and his wife, Margaret and Philip LaBounty and his wife, Mary, along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Sherman’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, 10 am, Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 653 Church Rd., Olmstedville with Father Phillip Allen, presiding. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to St. Josephs Roman Catholic Church, Olmstedville and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
