Warrensburg:
Ursula E. “Sue” Monroe, 85, of Schroon River Road, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at The Pines at Glens Falls, following a long illness.
Born June 4, 1930 in Warrensburg, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Alice (Norton) Baker.
Sue graduated from Warrensburg Central School.
She married R. Malcolm Monroe on August 7, 1949 in Warrensburg. The couple was known for their square dancing, and performance at SPAC, social activities, and travelling to Maine.
Sue prided herself on being a housewife and raising her four children. She enjoyed riding her snowmobile and moped in her early years; more recently she spent much of her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and making ceramics, crafting, painting, knitting, and crocheting. Sue also loved animals, especially her Boston Terriers.
She was a member of the Adirondack Fiddlers Association for many years.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Malcolm Monroe, brothers, Arthur, Guy, Donald Baker, and a grandson, Jason Monroe.
She is survived by her four sons, Donnie Monroe and his wife, Reine, of South Glens Falls, David Monroe and his wife, Kathy, of Warrensburg, Dale Monroe and his wife, Hildy, of Lake George, and Mark Monroe of Fort Edward; 10 grandchildren, Aron, Joel, Megan, Josh, Lucas, Casey, Laura, Jeremy, Ashley, and Jessica; 16 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Bruce Monroe and his wife, Theresa, of Dayton, ME. She also leaves behind several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
