Dear Phyllis:
It is with much sadness that we note Richard's passing. Ever since we started building our home across the street Richard was our most consistent neighbor. He watched the house for us. He seemed to stroll out the driveway when he noted that we were up for the weekend....and so we would always talk about our favorite subject, running. From him he learned about places nearby to run and with him we shared our running experiences....his however were world class.
At the beginning of the summer Lee told Richard about her plans to bring a small group of our daughter's his cross country team to Warrensburg for a long weekend running camp. Richard asked about it everytime we saw him and Lee planned to invite him over to meet the girls and share some of his legendary mile race experiences. This past weekend Lee had the team at our place for the long weekend. It seems hard to beleive that instead of getting the chance to ask Richard over she instead saw him leave by ambulance.
We shall truly miss seeing him on every trip to our new home. I can promise you that his spirit will run with us every time we take to the roads and trails in the Adirondacks for our long Sunday runs. Every time he saw us come back from a run he would say....I wish I could have gone with you.
May the God who gave him to you give you comfort.
Love,
Lee & Eric

Phyllis,
All the pianos that Richard's gentle fingering brought out the most beautiful
musical sounds from, are silent for now, remembering his gentle touch. And we who have had the
pleasure of listening to his
playing shall always be grateful
for the experience.
Wishing you and all Richard's
family, peace....Rita and Garry
