HUDSON FALLS: With broken hearts, the family of Colby L. Markey, 36 years young, of Hudson Falls, New York, announces his unexpected passing on June 4, 2026.

Colby entered the world on December 5, 1989, in Glens Falls, New York, the beloved son of Susan Bederian and Austin Markey. He graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 2008 and soon after moved to North Carolina, to pursue a degree.

Colby eventually returned home and worked several jobs before beginning a career in corrections with Warren County Corrections. Dedicated to serving others and advancing his profession, he attended the New York State Corrections Academy, graduating in 2017. He then served as a corrections officer at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora before transferring closer to home with Washington Correctional Facility. After taking a break from corrections to work for Nick Tuminaro (Med X Waste), Colby felt the need to return to public service once again and joined Saratoga County Corrections.

Colby embraced life with enthusiasm and had many passions. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family and friends whenever he could. When not with family or friends he would be found working out at his favorite gym, Primal Movements, where he trained alongside his good friend and coach, John Mabb. After a good workout Colby would be sure to share his progress on SnapChat with a motivational pic. “If you know, you know.” Colby’s soul was fueled by music. He loved attending concerts and listening to all genres. A devoted Yankees fan, Colby enjoyed watching games and attending as many as he could in person. He found peace in nature, whether boating on Saratoga Lake and Schroon Lake, exploring waterfalls, or simply enjoying the outdoors. Colby also loved to travel and was always eager for his next adventure.

Greeting Colby in heaven are his grandparents Charles and Joan Bederian and Al and Jean Markey; his cousin Joe Bederian along with his dear friends Ben Round and Austin Lane.

Colby's memory will be forever treasured by his parents, Susan Bederian(Dan Smith) and Austin Markey; his siblings, Allyssa (Mike) Yole, Madison Markey (Trevor Hill), and Boston Markey; his adored niece Evelynn and nephew, Owen his “Best Bro”; his Aunt Shannon; his stepmother, Karen Schultz (Ron); and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who became family.

Visitation for Colby’s family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 from 4pm – 7pm at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg, NY.  A sharing of memories and memorial video will follow visitation at 7pm.
