Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

BAKERS MILLS: It is with great sadness that the family of John Patrick Donohue announces his passing at the age of 55, following a brief illness, on April 24, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on August 4, 1970, in Syracuse, NY, to John Donohue and the late Elizabeth (Merritt) Donohue. As a teenager, he moved with his family to the Adirondacks, where he graduated from Johnsburg High School. It was there that he met the love of his life, Madeline Tennyson. The two were married on October 26, 1988, and would have celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary this year.

John built a career in construction and maintenance. He served as Head of Maintenance at The Summit at Gore before continuing his work at Lakeside Terrace Hotel in Lake George.

John had a deep love for winter and all it brought. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing ice hockey and was a lifelong New York Rangers fan. He also loved skiing and snowmobiling. Above all, John cherished his children, grandchildren, and family.

Besides his mother, Elizabeth Donohue, John was predeceased by his mother-in-law Sharon Tennyson and grandmother Sara Donohue.

Left to cherish John’s memory is his beloved wife Madeline Donohue of Bakers Mills; children Christopher Donohue of Bakers Mills, Sean (Racheal) Donohue of Indian Lake, Kylie Donohue and her partner Richard Bradway of Minerva and Joshua Donohue of Bakers Mills; father John (Marjorie) Donohue of North River; grandchildren Domonic and Sara Donohue of Bakers Mills, Jacob and Anna Ballard of Minerva and Rayland Granger of Chestertown; sister Laura Donohue of Riparius; brothers Lucas Donohue and Ashley Snow of North River, Eli Donohue of North Creek, Michael (Theresa) Dunkley of Bakers Mills and Ernie (Brandy) Dunkley of Thurman; father-in-law Lavergne “Tom” Tennyson of North Creek; sister-in-law Lucy Tennyson and partner Chris McLaren of Corinth; brother-in-law Alfred Tennyson and partner Jamie Altman of North Creek; best friend Joe Negron and countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
