Obituary of Charles F. Johnson Sr.
WARRENSBURG: Charles Foster Johnson Sr., 88, of Warrensburg died on April 13, 2026 while surrounded by his loving family. Charles suffered from leukemia.
He was born August 1, 1937 in Horicon, the son of the late Vernon and Florence Johnson. He graduated and then joined the Navy and served from 1955 until 1963. He married the love of his life, Mary C. Johnson on September 28, 1957. He enjoyed his 40-year career with Niagara Mohawk and those he worked with through the years. He loved his family, and enjoyed riding snowmobiles, dirt bikes, camping, travelling, hunting and playing cards.
Those left to cherish his memory are his children Charles F. Johnson Jr. (Linda) of Warrensburg, Catherine M. Johnson of Warrensburg, Mary Victoria Bressette (Allan) of Fort Ann; 10 grandchildren, CJ Johnson (Jenn), Colette Fifield, Rachel Holley (Joel), Dominick Fruda, Monet Fruda, Quatrina Bressette, Josh Bressette, Brenton Southwick, Jacob Johnson and Breanna Bressette; seven great grandchildren, Charlie Mae Johnson, Inman Fifield, Weston Holley, Rilynn Holley, Vinny Fruda, Colton Mattison, and Kinsley Mattison; brother Richard Johnson and many in-laws.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at the CR Wood Cancer Center and Dr. Grubbs and her staff for their care and the Glens Falls Hospital Therapy Dog Team for their love and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Charles R. Wood Foundation or the Tunnel to Tower Foundation.
At Charles request, there are no calling hours scheduled.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am, Saturday, April 25, 2026 at St. Cecilia’s Roman Catholic Church, 3802 Main Street, Warrensburg. Burial of Mary C. Johnson and Charles F. Johnson Sr. will follow at St. Cecilia’s Cemetery, Hudson Street, Warrensburg.
