WARRENSBURG:  Janet L. Holcomb (Reed), 87 of Warrensburg, NY passed away at Glens Falls Hospital on April 3, 2026 after a long illness.

Janet was born at home in Warrensburg on March 20, 1939, to the late Charles and Lillian (Cameron) Reed. She graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1957 and also attended BOCES, where she earned her certificate in cosmetology.

On July 3, 1957, Janet married her true love, Daniel Holcomb, and the two shared 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2015.

For many years, Janet worked from her home, either doing hair or providing childcare, but most importantly, she was a devoted stay-at-home mother. She was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church in Warrensburg, where she taught junior church and sang in the choir.

Janet was well known for her cooking, whether for family gatherings, church dinners, or catering events. She was also a talented seamstress, making clothing for her children and even sewing her daughter Darcy’s wedding dress. Janet enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, as well as crafting and collecting wolf and elephant figurines over the years.

Janet was predeceased by her parents; her beloved husband, Daniel Holcomb; son, Charles Holcomb; her siblings, Mary Gebo, Nancy Venditto, and infant sister, Charlene.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Darcy Ingraham; brother, Richard Reed and his wife, Kathy; grandsons, Josh, Jake, Jesse, and Jeremy Ingraham; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Donations in Janet’s memory may be made to the Warrensburg Historical Society, PO Box 441, Warrensburg, NY 12885.

Per Janet’s wishes there are no services scheduled. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
