Obituary of William Lawrence Siegle

BRANT LAKE: William Lawrence Siegle, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2026, at the age of 80.
Bill was born on November 17, 1945, at Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, one of the hospital’s first set of twins. He was the son of George Kolb Siegle and Catherine McCabe Siegle. He grew up in Beverly and Riverside, New Jersey, where he graduated from Riverside High School in Riverside, NJ.
Bill attended Urbana University in Urbana, Ohio, earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. He later completed his master’s degree in education at Ohio University. He spent ten years teaching at the elementary level in Ohio, a role that reflected his lifelong love of learning and language.
Later, Bill moved to New York State, settling in the Adirondacks. There he met and married Elizabeth D. Sweeney. He was the proud father of two children, Thomas G. Siegle and Darryl Ann Johnson.
Bill pursued a second career in law enforcement, serving for 19 years as a Parole Officer. During this time, he also taught English at Great Meadows Correctional Facility, continuing his dedication to education and mentorship.
An avid outdoorsman, Bill loved fly fishing, hunting, and canoeing. He had a passion for collecting Native American artifacts and enjoyed antiquing. He was a devoted reader, a pipe smoker, and a lifelong fan of James Bond films. Above all, he deeply loved his dog, Daisy.
Bill was predeceased by his father, George K. Siegle; his mother, Catherine McCabe Siegle; his sister, Kathleen E. Sweeney; and his wife, Elizabeth D. Siegle.
He is survived by his sister, Marylouise “Marylou” Cake; his partner, Patricia Cameron; his son, Thomas G. Siegle and wife Jennifer Siegle; his daughter, Darryl Ann Johnson and her husband Robert E. Johnson; and his grandchildren, Ryann Elizabeth Johnson, Robert Liam Johnson, Asher Siegle, and Freya Siegle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in William’s name to the ASPCA or to any local animal shelter.
A mass of intention will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2026, 10am at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church, 3802 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY.
