Obituary of Rudolph B. Squires
WARRENSBURG: Rudolph “Rudy” Squires, 78, of Warrensburg, NY passed away on January 12, 2026 at Glens Falls Hospital after a short illness.
Rudy came into this world on March 22, 1947 in Glens Falls, NY to the late Vernon and Lena (Ingraham) Squires. He attended Warrensburg School having to leave in tenth grade to care for his ailing father and the family. Rudy proudly received his GED in the 1990’s. Throughout Rudy’s life he had numerous jobs including head of maintenance for Warren County DPW, Warrensburg Town Highway Department, Westmount Nursing Home, manager of maintenance and working for AI Markey Painting. Rudy also enjoyed being part of Warren County’s Sheriff’s Mounted during the late 60’s for thirteen years.
In 1968 Rudy joined the Warrensburg Fire Company and was an active honorary fireman up until his passing. When not working Rudy enjoyed playing billiards, darts, playing on the men’s basketball and softball leagues, having coffee with his buddies Jim Mahler and David Spatz either at Luck-E-Star Diner or Stewart’s.
Besides his parents, Rudy is predeceased by his brother Charles, and sisters Beverly Pavilich, Sally Topping and Mary Durkin, along with his beloved dog Bandit.
Left to cherish his memory are his children Jill Galusha and Michael (Jennifer) Squires; step daughter Kylie Schaldone; brother Jerry Squires; grandchildren Allison Squires, Cara Squires and Beth Galusha; step grandchildren Veronica (Zak) Quartararo and Nick Pereau; special nieces Darcy (Neil) Squires-Dufresne and Dana (Greg) Russell; niece Tina (Bob) Durkin; nephews Roger (Shelly) Durkin and Raymond (Lori) Durkin.

Rudy’s family would like to thank the staff of Tower 2 at Glens Falls Hospital for their kindness and care shown to both Rudy and his family during this difficult time. A special thank you is extended to his nurse, Jennifer Tripi, for her exceptional care and compassion.
Friends are invited to call on Rudy’s family from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY 12885. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 6:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Warrensburg Cemetery in the spring.
