Obituary of Frances L. Remington

THURMAN:  Frances L. Remington, 78, of Thurman, NY passed away on December 29, 2025 at Elderwood in North Creek.

Frances was born on November 10, 1947, in Tupper Lake, NY, to the late Frank and Lillian (Gardner) Gates. She earned her GED in the 1980s and went on to work as a private home health aide, caring for many individuals throughout the region until suffering a stroke in 2019.

Frances had a deep love for baking and cooking, and feeding others was one of the ways she showed her care. She especially enjoyed canning and took pride in teaching family members that skill. Summers were often spent at cookouts and tent camping with her family at Lake Durant. Above all, family was extremely important to Frances and remained at the center of her life.

Besides her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Remington; son Harold Tucker and sisters Connie Stewart and her husband Ronnie and Virginia Remington.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Susan Dingman of Glens Falls, Cheryl Tucker of Queensbury, Becky (Phil) Hayes of Warrensburg and son Daryl Tucker; stepchildren Melissa (James) Hill of Queensbury, Sharon Remington of Queensbury, Jerrie (Don) Shaw of Argyle, Laurie Mumblo and her partner Jim Blanchard of Argyle, and Gerald Remington Jr. and his partner April Gill of Thurman; sister Margaret Gates of Hudson Falls; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends may call on Frances’s family from 1pm – 3pm, Thursday, January 8, 2026 at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY 12885. A memorial service will follow visitation at 3pm.
