Obituary of Philip F. Johnson
Minerva:
Philip F. Johnson, 91, of State Route 28N, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Elderwood Nursing & Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.
Born March 4, 1934 in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Fritz A. and Martha (Berg) Johnson.
He was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School and Clark University and a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He continued his graduate work at the University of Oregon.
He proudly served his country in the U. S. Marine Corps with the 4th Marines in Asia from 1953-1956 earning the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, and the National Service Medal, and finished his military service with 5 years of Reserves.
He was a member of American Legion Post 629 serving as Post Commander and Commander of Warren County. He was a life member of the Korean War Veterans Assoc., and Marine Corps League. Phil was a 32 degree Mason, Valley of Boston, 55 year member of Morning Star Lodge in Worcester, and joint member of 425 Warrensburg Royal Arch Mason 325 and a Shriner in Boston and Troy. Phil worked as assessor for the town of Minerva for over 30 years. In his early years, he was an industrial salesman traveling the eastern part of the United States and eastern Canada.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by a sister, Ann Johnson Rowe, nephew, Robert G. Rowe, and a companion, Gloria Baroudi.
He is survived by two nephews, Lawrence Rowe and his wife, Terry, and Brian Rowe and his wife, Caroline, as well as a grand-niece, Meredith Rowe.
At Phil’s request, there are no calling hours scheduled.
A celebration of life will be held from 2 to 5 pm, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at the Minerva Community Center, 5 Morse Memorial Highway, Minerva.
