Please share a memory of Kathryn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
CHESTERTOWN: With love and gratitude, we share the passing of Kathryn Flachbarth Tennyson, 85, of Chestertown, New York, Who left us peacefully on October 4, 2025.
Born October 30, 1939, to the late Eugene and Kathryn (Little) Flachbarth, she grew up in Chestertown alongside siblings Gene, Bob, and Beth, forming the foundation of a close, loving family that remained at the center of her life.
Known to many as Mrs. Tennyson or Grandma, Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, quilter, and friend. A longtime kindergarten teacher, she touched countless young lives with her warmth, humor, and gentle encouragement. Her creativity came to life through her beautiful Baltimore Album quilts-treasured gifts made for each grandchild-and her kitchen, where every meal was made with love and laughter.
Kathryn’s life was filled with grace, generosity, and devotion. She cheered from the sidelines, baked for every occasion, and created a home where everyone felt welcome. Even through the challenges of dementia, her kindness, style, and joyful spirit never faded.
She is now reunited with her beloved husband Joseph and he with his “Dolly” on his birthday, October 4th. Together again they stand on the foundation of family love and laughter.
Memorial donations in Kathryn’s memory may be made to the Chestertown United Methodist Church, PO Box 474, Chestertown, NY 12817.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Chestertown United Methodist Church, 11 Church Street, Chestertown, NY, with Pastor Kimberly Townsend officiating.
