WARRENSBURG: David “Dave” Mahler, 57, of Warrensburg, passed away July 6, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and quiet strength that touched all who knew him.
Born in Albany, NY, on September 6, 1967, to James and Cindy (Bartlett) Mahler, Dave grew up in Warrensburg, where he formed lifelong friendships and made a name for himself as a talented athlete, excelling in football and basketball at Warrensburg Central School.
After high school, Dave answered a higher calling and proudly served his country in the United States Army during Desert Storm. His service was a reflection of his deep sense of honor, duty, and compassion—qualities that defined him throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home to the North Country, where he continued to serve his community in countless ways, working in various roles and most recently at Cascades Paper Company.
Dave was a man of quiet strength, known for his integrity, generosity, and the kind heart he shared freely with those around him. Whether it was helping a neighbor, sharing a laugh with a friend, or being a steady presence for his family, Dave made those around him feel cared for and seen.
He found joy in the simple things—hunting, fishing, watching the horses run, or spending a sunny afternoon on the golf course. But nothing brought him greater pride or purpose than being a father. His daughter, Nichole, was the light of his life. He loved her deeply and unconditionally, and his face would always light up when he spoke about her.
Dave's warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He had a way of making people feel like they mattered, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, George and Francis Mahler.
Left to carry forward his memory are his loving parents, James and Cindy Mahler; his beloved daughter, Nichole Mahler; his siblings, Steve (Pam) Mahler, Jeff (Robin) Mahler, Jason Mahler, Jay (Tori) Mahler, Derek Mahler, and Stephanie (Rob) Frasier; his dear friend, David “Brock” Bracale; many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his loyal dog and constant companion, Cooper.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Dave’s spirit lives on in the countless lives he touched, the kindness he showed, and the love he gave so freely. He will be remembered always, with deep affection and gratitude.
