Obituary of Denise M. Austin

JOHNSBURG:  Denise M. Austin, 51, of Johnsburg, NY, passed away after an illness on July 5, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital, with her loving husband by her side.

Denise was born in New Haven, Connecticut on September 19, 1973 to the late Salvatore and Janice (Miller) Squailia. Once graduating from high school, Denise worked in many different professions throughout Connecticut. She moved to the Adirondack’s twelve years ago, settling in Johnsburg, NY.  Her latest job was as a cashier at Home Depot in Queensbury.

Denise married the love of her life, Robert Austin whom she met working at Home Depot. They were married on April 29, 2023 in Chestertown, NY.  She collected gnomes and dolls but Denise was most passionate about all holidays, especially decorating her home for them. 

Denise is predeceased by her parents Salvatore and Janice Squailia.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Austin; children, Matthew Tigre, Justin Bates, Danielle, and Stephanie Mixon; siblings, Sal (Mary Beth) Squailia and Jeanette Squailia; mother-in-law, Joan Ross; sisters-in-law, Chrissy (Fred) Keller and Deanne (Wally) Pecor; brother-in-law, Leland (Holly) Morehouse; close friend, Larry Bailey; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Friends and family are invited to call on Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 3pm – 5pm at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY. A memorial service will follow visitation at 5pm.
