Obituary of Rose G. Proctor

Please share a memory of Rose to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

WHITEHALL:  Rose Mary Gosselin, born April 26, 1941, in Troy, NY, passed away surrounded by loved ones in the early morning of June 23, 2025, in Warrensburg, NY.

A beloved member of the close-knit community of Whitehall, New York.  She raised her loving sons there with her one true soulmate, Russell Gosselin, next to whom she will be laid to rest.  They fell in love in 1956 and were later married for 33 years.

In 1995, Rose met her second husband, Francis Proctor.  Together, they travelled the country cultivating their unique interests and eclectic tastes for 10 years.

In 2008, she met James Richardson and spent 15 joy-filled years until his passing in 2023.

Rose was a vibrant individual with a verve for life.  From playing the slots at the Saratoga Racino to tending to her flourishing garden, she defined what it is like to enjoy life and take risks. She is remembered fondly for her spunky attitude and empowered perspectives on life.  She was often found laughing and dancing with friends and family.

She is predeceased by her mother, Mary Choppy; her brother, Harold Choppy; her husband and the father of her children, Russell Gosselin; and her adoring partners, Francis Proctor and James Richardson.

Rose will continue to be cherished by her children; Clay Gosselin, Lee (Lori) Gosselin, and Russell Gosselin Jr.; her grandchildren: Zachary Gosselin, Lee (Casey) Gosselin Jr., Travis Gosselin, Trevor Gosselin, Richelle Gosselin, Shea Lynn, Russell Gosselin III; her step-grandchildren; Valarie Merced, Michael (Alexia) Merced; her great-grandchildren: Griffin Gosselin, Logan Gosselin, Quinn Gosselin, Sawyer Gosselin, Thomas Barber Jr, and Russell Gosselin IV; her sister: Ruby Ameril, and her dear pet Miss Kitty, who’s feistiness delightfully mirrored our beloved Rose.

The family would like to thank Beverly McNeill, a kind and generous friend who opened her heart and home to Rose in her final days.  And to her dedicated daughter-in-law, Lori Gosselin, who diligently and compassionately cared for Rose every step of the way, ensuring a peaceful passing full of loved and affection.  She was surrounded by flowers, butterflies, hearts, and hugs as she transitioned from this world.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Greenmount Cemetery in Whitehall, NY, on Sunday, June 29th at 3:00 PM, followed by a celebration of her life at the pavilion at the Waterfront Park.  All are welcome to join, share a memory, and bring a dish to share!
