Obituary of Larry M. Vernum
WARRENSBURG – Larry “Bucky” Vernum, 59, of Warrensburg, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital after a battle with cancer.
Bucky was born on September 22, 1965, in Glens Falls, NY, to the late Ivan and Elsie (Morehouse) Vernum. He was raised in Warrensburg and began working at a young age. After leaving school, he started his lifelong career at R.J. Sweet Lumber Co. in Warrensburg, where he proudly operated the resaw for 45 years until his retirement.
During his school years, Bucky met the love of his life, Robin Hayes, who later became his wife.
Bucky was a hard worker, always putting his family first. In his early years, he enjoyed hunting and never passed up the chance for a good party. He especially loved “honky tonking” with his great friend, Jonathan “JP” Johnson. But more than anything, Bucky cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
In addition to his parents, Bucky was predeceased by his beloved wife, Robin Vernum; his sisters, Yvonne Vernum and Myra Millington; his brothers, Arthur Moffitt, Gary Moffitt, and Jeffrey Vernum; and his nephew, Eric Moffitt.
Left to cherish Bucky’s memory are his loving daughters, Jamie Vernum and Amanda Vernum; his cherished grandchildren, Molly, Keaten, and Jeffrey Duell; his siblings, Leon, Linda (Jim), Barbara, Ivan (Judy), Kathy, Tammy, and Bobby (Tammy); his son-in-law, Frank Tranowitz; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Emily on Tower 2 and to Tara, the charge nurse in the ICU at Glens Falls Hospital, for the kindness and compassionate care they provided to Bucky.
In honor of Bucky’s memory, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or online at www.donate.cancer.org.
