DIAMOND POINT: Clifford D. Sprague, 75 years old, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 2, 2025.
Cliff was born on July 26, 1949, in Glens Falls, NY, to the late C. David Sprague and Ina (Pratt) Sprague. He graduated from Keeseville Central School and began his career as a heavy equipment operator with Operating Engineers Local 106, working for decades with O'Connor Construction. Cliff later pursued his passion by founding his own logging business, C.D. Trucking, which he operated for several years. He concluded his career as a heavy equipment operator with Jackson Demolition.
Cliff met the love of his life, Nell Jackson, and they were married on April 11, 1976, in the Presbyterian Church in Warrensburg. Cliff and Nell recently celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary.
Cliff had a deep love for the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing-whether from a boat or through the ice and was an avid deer hunter, spending cherished time at the Old Huntin' Camp and even co-owning a hunting camp on Cat Mountain. Cliff took great pride in his vegetable garden, generously sharing the fruits of his labor with family and friends. He especially loved spending time at the family camp on the Schroon River. One of his greatest joys was working on his tractor, earning him the affectionate nickname 'Tractor Man' from his wife. Cliff also had a soft spot for animals, particularly cats, and throughout his life, he shared a special bond with several beloved dogs-never able to say no to either.
Cliff was a legend in his own way.
Predeceasing Cliff are his beloved parents; brother-in-law's Ronald Dingman, Jerrold Cameron, Jim Jackson and John Wilde; sister-in-law Jane Wilde and niece Shelli Cameron.
Left to cherish Cliff's memory is his beloved wife of 49 years, Nell Sprague; his children, Tonya Springer and her significant other Steve Rettig, David Sprague and his wife Jeanie, and Nellie Sprague; and his sisters, Candi Cameron and Coleen Dingman. He was a proud grandfather to Sabrina (Alfred) Cotter, Amanda Springer, Nicholas Springer, Jameson Sprague, Quintin Sprague, and Liam Sprague, and a loving great-grandfather to Paisley Springer, Alisia Cotter, Paige Waller, Jaylynne Cotter, Phinley Waller, and Kerry Stinson. Cliff also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be fondly remembered by two dear friends: Rick Fish, his longtime hunting partner and a "second son," and Steve Rettig, with whom he shared countless fishing trips and adventures. Cliff is also survived by wonderful neighbors and many lifelong friends who will miss him deeply.
Per Cliff's wishes, services will private and at the convenience of the family.
