Obituary of Sue Monroe

WARRENSBURG:  Sue Monroe, 71, of Warrensburg, NY passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 8, 1953, in Schenectady, NY, Sue was the daughter of the late Harold and Marilyn 'Jane' (Davis) Monroe Combs. She was a proud graduate of Warrensburg Central School, Class of 1971.

Sue’s greatest joy in life was her beloved family, and she also had a deep love for animals and music.

Sue was predeceased by her father, Harold Monroe, on November 21, 1969; her mother, Marilyn 'Jane' Monroe Combs, on April 23, 2007; her stepfather, Gerald 'Jake' Combs, on May 19, 2003; her longtime companion, Robert 'Bob' Rounds, on February 23, 2016; her brother, Harold 'Rusty' Monroe, on March 7, 2024; and her cousin, Barbara Fish, on December 27, 2008.

Left to cherish Sue’s memory are her two beloved daughters, Melissa Rounds and her companion, Jake Bland, and Stacey Freebern and her husband, Paul Freebern; her cherished granddaughter, Priscilla Vernum; special sister-in-law Mickey Monroe; her dear aunt, Fay Sherman; as well as several nieces, a great-niece, great-nephews, and many cousins. Sue also leaves behind her beloved cat, who brought her great comfort and joy, as well as her cherished grandpets who were dear to her heart.

Friends are invited to call on Sue’s family from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg, NY. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17, 2025, followed by burial at Warrensburg Cemetery on Hudson Street.
