Obituary of George W. Millington

Chestertown: George W. “Willie” Millington, 92, of Petteys Road, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness. Born October 7, 1928 in Riparius, he was the son of the late George and Olga (Harris) Millington. He was a lifelong resident of the area. Following his graduation from Johnsburg High School, he enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country as an MP until his honorable discharge. He worked as a watchman at R.J. Sweet Lumber in Warrensburg for many years. Besides spending time with his family, he was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying all the Adirondacks have to offer including hunting, fishing, and puttering in his garage. Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Elaine Galusha. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Millington of Chestertown; his daughter, Jennifer Millington of Warrensburg; grandson, Gavin Edwards; sister-in-law, Connie Coleman; nieces and nephews, Connie, Lyle, Kimberly, Wendy, Christina, Daniel, Sarah, James, Anthony, Dorothy, Dawn, Billy and Gina. At Willie’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at the convenience of his family.
