Warrensburg:
Margery M. “Marge” Parker, 80, of Schroon River Road, passed away peacefully, Sunday, February 14, 2021 at Glens Falls Hospital following a long illness.
Born December 9, 1940 in Athol, she was the daughter of the late William and Dorothy (Hall) Vernum.
She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1959 graduate of Warrensburg Central School.
She married Harry R. Parker on April 21, 1962 at the Warrensburg First United Methodist Church.
Marge was employed for 36 years with New York State Department of Transportation until her retirement on April 21, 1995.
She loved spending time with her family and many friends. She also enjoyed seek and find puzzles, bird watching (which she fed the birds and squirrels daily) and mingling with her “drinking buddies” at the local pubs.
Marge was a former member of Hackensack #442 and Mohican #73 Rebekah Lodges from 1959 until they disbanded. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Warrensburg VFW Lodge #4821 as well as the Warrensburg Alumni Association, serving as their secretary.
She will sadly be missed by her family and friends.
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her beloved husband of 46 years, Harry Parker.
She is survived by two sons: William Parker of Chestertown; Christopher Parker and his wife, Carrie of Warrensburg; five grandchildren: Matthew, Jeremy, Sully, Aubree, and Sydney; two sisters, Cathy Webster of SC and Mary Fish of Warrensburg; along with several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Marge’s family from 4 to 6 pm, Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Alexander Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will immediately follow the visitation at 6 pm at the funeral home.
Burial will be conducted in the spring in Newcomb Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation at www.bcrf.org or the Ronald
McDonald House in Albany.
