Obituary of Frances J. Sheehan

Minerva: Frances J. Sheehan, 79, of Minerva, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the Adirondack Tri-County Health and Rehabilitation Facility in North Creek after a 50 year battle with MS. Born June 4, 1933 in North River, she was the daughter of the late William and Thelma (Davis) Freebern. Fran was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from the North Creek High School in 1951. She worked at General Telephone Co. in North Creek following high school. She went on to work as a secretary with Stevenson Insurance Agency in Chestertown and later as a stenographer at North Creek National Bank. She married John B. Sheehan on June 8, 1957 in St. Joseph’s RC Church in Olmstedville. In 1959, she left outside employment to raise her family of two sons, Tim and Danny. Frances loved to travel and especially enjoyed vacations in Myrtle Beach. Time spent in Branson, MO and Nashville, TN were close seconds. She was a member of the Sleeping Giants Senior Citizens Club and enjoyed several of their outings. In addition to her parents, two brothers, George and Danny Freebern and nephew, Jim McConnell have all predeceased her. She leaves behind, her beloved husband of 55 years, John B. Sheehan of Minerva; her sons, Tim and his companion, Lisa of Olmstedville, Danny and his childhood best friend and housemate, David of Lewiston, ME; her sisters, Judy McConnell and her husband, John of Chestertown, Sharon Wells of North River; her brothers, Kenneth (Mike) Freebern and his wife, Sharlene and Reginald Freebern and his wife, Roxie of North River; Sister-in-law, Mary Jane Freebern of North River; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Frances’s family extends a heartfelt thank you to members of the Minerva and North Creek Rescue Squads and nurses and support staff at the Tri-County Nursing Home.
