Obituary of Sharon L. Duffy

Warrensburg: Sharon L. Duffy, 66, of Terrace Ave., passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born May 17, 1947 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Hoag) Miner. A lifelong resident of the area, Sharon was a graduate of Glens Falls High School, Class of 1965. She enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. during the Vietnam Conflict. Upon her honorable discharge, she was employed by Scott Paper in Fort Edward. She met and married Robert J. Duffy on April 4, 1972 at the Church of the Messiah in Glens Falls. Sharon worked for several years as a bookkeeper for OJ's TV & Appliance, currently in Chestertown. Sharon enjoyed gardening, and took great pride in her creation, she also loved shopping with her sister, Shelley. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, David Miner. Sharon is survived by her beloved husband of 41 years, Robert Duffy of Warrensburg; the couple’s two children, Christine Duffy and her companion, Ken Taylor of Tacoma, WA, and John Duffy of Warrensburg; her siblings, Shelley Durkee of Queensbury, Judy Breen and her companion, Jim Barlow of Comstock, Dennis Miner and his wife, Rita of Glens Falls, and Denise Miner of Missouri; a sister-in-law, Claire Weisenberg of Long Island. She also leaves behind a “surrogate granddaughter”, Izabell Durkee, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Friends may call on Sharon's family from 5 to 7 pm, Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. At Sharon's request, services will be conducted priavtely, at the convenience of the family.
