My sympathy is with Brent's family, friends, and all of the students that he has touched throughtout the years.
Words cannot express my deep sorrow in hearing of Brent's passing. He was a true friend and mentor to myself and many others. Always willing to lend an ear and truly cared for all. His smile always made my day a little brighter even on the darkest days of my teenage years. Every student should be able to have a teacher like him at least once in their lives. I am truly blessed to have known such a great man.

Thinking of you, wishing I were with you, and sending you lots of love.
From riding in the jeep, listening to "Center Field" over and over, to building birdhouses, to Yankee radio, to washer toss and bocce and green bean casserole, the lake and the farm, I'm so thankful for the memories, and for the patience, inspiration, and example that Uncle Brent represents.

Mr. B was a teacher like no other. He was a teacher that taught through happiness, he found the best in every person he spoke to. Mr. B would light up a room simply by walking into it and then follow up with his warm smile and cheerful humor. He always helped his students succeed and showed them everything was worth trying for. He is a teacher who may not walk next to us anymore, however he will always live in our hearts and reside in our memories! I feel blessed to have known him.
Missy and faimily you have my deepest regrets and all my prayers for all the healing ahead of you.
Mr. B you will always put a smile on my face! I will always remember our talks of your ice fishing trips to your freezer, your fingers that were put on the wrong hands, my many visits to hang in your shop rather than sit in study hall, and the "Heart you Left in San Francisco!" There are not enough words to express what the entire community is feeling in the sudden loss of Brent. He loved and lived life to its fullest everyday. His dedication to his work, students, family ,and friends was like no other.
I was blessed to not only have him as a teacher myself but also my children. My house is full of Bertrand/Demarsh originals from the Countless hours Austin spent with Brent in the class room . Austin truly looked up to Brent and admired him for everything he represented!
More than a teacher my family was blessed to have him as such a great family friend! He was never more than a phone call away.
Missy, stay strong and hold tight to all the wonderful memories you have of him. He loved you so much!

Our condolences to you all in the loss of Brent. I went to school with his brother Frank (F.D.) and his Dad was the principal at Maple Street when I attended there. First I would like to send my symapthy to Missy,Jane,Bruce, and the rest of the Bertrand gang.Brent was a special teacher, friend, and coach.
Over the years we spent quite a bit of time with him. He was always bright and cheery especially at 5am when he would call and say good morning or happy birthday!
Snowmobiling with him and the Hendrick gang was always so much fun.He was always the leader. Always prepared with his map.
Watching him with his students and my children was such an inspiration. His powerful way of making every person he came in contact with feel like they were special and that they could accomplish anything if they worked hard enough.
I feel like so many students are losing out on his wisdom, his zest for living, and his lifes lessons.
Brent left us all with so many great memories (too many to count). After the shock wears off these memories will help us all get through the bad days. I know when I think of Brent I have a great memories and a huge smile.
Missy and The Bertrand Family may these great memories help you through the rough times. He was admired and respected by all he came in contact with.Quite a legacy.

To the Bertrand and Missy,
I send my deepest sympathies to all of you. I have spent the last few days reading comments about what a wonderful teacher, coach and friend he was to so many people that will never forget him.
I will never forget what an awesome son, brother and uncle he was. I have never seen a man with so much patience. My thoughts of him working with Nathan and Emily on the specially thought out wood working projects he planned for them and trusting them on the tractors and machinery at the farm will forever be embedded in their memories and mine. Everyone has made comments about him making them feel special, and I can see the truth in that just by the way he made our kids feel.
As did all of you, Brent accepted me into your family as if I had been there forever. I thank you all for that. It also explains how he will be deeply missed by so many people. He brought that great foundation of family and acceptance to all the people he met through his life.
It is an honor to be a part of your wonderful family.
My thoughts, prayers and love are with you all through this sad time.
Sincerely, Teri

So sorry for this loss. He was always friendly and kind. He was one of those teachers that saw each student as an individual. He wasn't interacting with us just because it was his job but because he took genuine interest in each one and without judgement of social rank, scholastic abilities and outside activities. As his student, I knew that I could accomplish the project because he gave us proper instruction, and encouragement throughout. What a blessing he was to our school!

Brent was such a great teacher to me. He became like a father I never had but always wanted. He was always there for me, and would pay for my lunch when I didn't have any money. So many people loved this man and I'll tell you what , I know I sure did. I'm very honored to have been one of his students. I will never let his name fade in my heart. I know he's watching down on me, on all of us in fact. I'll cherish everything this man ever gave me , I'll re-read everything he wrote in my yearbooks. Brent always called me "bobby" , so , I'll see you once again Bertrand. I love and miss you. - bobby

My heart goes out to Brent's loved ones during this difficult time. We lost such a wonderful man when he passed.
As one of Brent's former students and athletes I often times, like others, have heard his "Brentisms" and have carried them with me and continue to live by them.
As a college coach now I say those "Brentisms" to my athletes on a daily basis. I will tell my athlete..."Don't say your sorry, just fix it." I say it so much that my athletes think I don't like manners, but I know with time they will understand it...just like I did. Just last Sunday I told a group of players, "That the way you practice is the way you will play."
What a wonderful man...and I consider myself so lucky to have called him a teacher, coach, but most importantly...friend.
