Obituary of Duane T. Griffin

Warrensburg: Duane T. Griffin, 71, of Library Avenue, passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at the Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born August 3, 1941 in Warrensburg, he was the son of the late Paul and Irene (Bennett) Griffin. Duane was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1959. He began his working years with Warren County, managed the Sugar Shack Restaurant in Ballston Spa. He also worked for Con Diesel, Finch Pryne and finally as a self employed plumber. In his younger years, Duane was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers. He also enjoyed building model trains and collecting vintage postcards of the Warrensburg-Lake George area. He married Barbara A. Nataro on February 12, 1989 in Lake George and spent 21 wonderful years together until her passing on June 13, 2010. Duane was a very active member in both communities his resided, volunteering his time as a fireman with Ballston Spa Eagle Matt Lee Vol. Fire Co. and the Warrensburg EMS until his health started to fail, forcing him to resign. Besides his parents and his beloved wife, Barbara, he is also predeceased by his brother, Richard Griffin. He is survived by his four children: Shane Griffin of Corinth, Sherry Tucker and her husband, Sonny of Johnsburg, William Griffin and his wife, Dee of Saratoga Springs, Brian Griffin of Glens Falls, grandchildren, Mikle Tucker, Sgt. Daniel Griffin, Michael Van Aken, Nikole and Sunnie Lee; his great granddaughter, Lacy Rose Tucker; siblings, Caroline Langworthy, Robert and Carleton Griffin; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. At Duane’s request, there are no calling hours or funeral services scheduled. His family and his close friends will celebrate Duane’s final wish to be with his beloved, Barb in a special place, from 2-4 pm, Saturday, March 30th at Echo Lake Lodge in Warrensburg.
