Obituary of Charles A. Bankert

Johnsburg: Charles A. Bankert, 56, of Park Road, passed away unexpectedly, Saturday, January 12, 2013 after being stricken at his home. Born November 19, 1956 in Syracuse, he was the beloved son of Shirley E. Bankert of Johnsburg and the late Anthony D. Bankert who passed away on April 21, 2000. Chuck was a 1974 graduate of Manchester West High School in New Hampshire and continued his education at the University of New Hampshire at Durham. He spent several years living in Bonita Springs, FL where he owned an operated a restaurant and bakery. He will be remembered as a great chef who loved to cook for his family and friends. Chuck eventually relocated back to upstate New York to be closer to his family where he worked as a carpenter for many years. He enjoyed swimming and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico as well as following professional football and baseball as an avid Cowboys and Yankees fan. He is survived by his mother, Shirley E. Bankert of Johnsburg; his brother, Michael E. Bankert of Queensbury and sister, Shirley "Suki" J. Dunkley of North Creek; his nephew, Kyle A. and his wife Marilyn Dunkley of Bakers Mills; and great nieces and nephews, Meghan, Riley, and Adrianna Dunkley. Friends may call on Charles’ family from 12-2 pm, Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate his life will follow the visitation at 2 pm at the funeral home. Spring burial will take place in the Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg.
