Obituary of Mulvena O. Russell

Bakers Mills: Mulvena O. Russell, 95, formerly of Bartman Road, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 16, 2013 at Adirondack Tri-Country Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in North Creek. Born May 15, 1918 in Speculator she was the daughter of the late Theodore and Gertrude (Lamphear) Yennard. She was the fifth child of 10 siblings. Mulvena was a lifelong resident of the area and married Ralph J. Russell on December 5, 1936. The couple spent 56 years together before his passing on May 14, 1993. Besides spending time with her beloved family and friends, she loved flowers, birds, gardening, and nature. Before her sight failed, Mulvena enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and reading, especially her Bible. Besides her parents and beloved husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Donna F. Hoag and her son, Nelson Russell. She is survived by her daughters, Pearl Goodsell of Gansevoort and Audrey Halse of Watervliet; her siblings: Ellen Russell of Warrensburg and Adlore Yennard of Gloversville; her sister-in-law, Rosie Russell of Bakers Mills; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; along with her “adopted” loved ones, John Porter and Karen Dunkley; She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. Friends may call on Mulvena’s family from 11 am to 1 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main Street, Warrensburg. A funeral service to celebrate her life will follow the visitation at 1 pm at the funeral home with the Rev. Ronald Allen, Pastor of the Sodom Community Church officiating. Burial will follow in Bates Cemetery, Johnsburg. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Mulvena’s memory to the Sodom Community Church or Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in North Creek.
