Obituary of Raymond Arthur Stone

Warrensburg: Raymond Arthur “Art” Stone, 86, of Marion Ave., passed away peacefully April 30, 2011, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born July 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Raymond V. and Pearl I. (Hitchcock) Stone. Art was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Warrensburg Central School in 1940. He later enlisted in the United States Army during WWII, where he proudly served his country in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations before his honorable discharge in 1946. He worked for many years as a plumbing and heating technician. Besides his parents, Art is predeceased by his brother, George; sister, Dorothy; and infant daughter, Christine. Art is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette P. (Cooper) Stone of Warrensburg; daughters, Jean Stone of Warrensburg; Marjorie Fish and her husband, Duane of Warrensburg; Julia Stone and her fiancé, George Macfarlane Jr. of Warrensburg; a son, Clarence Stone and his wife, Jan of Lake Luzerne. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to express their gratitude towards the many doctors, nurses, aides, and health care facilities that provided Raymond with such great care throughout his illness. At Raymond’s request, there will be no calling hours scheduled. A graveside service with Military Honors will take place at the convenience of the family in the North Caldwell Cemetery, Lake George.
