Obituary of Isabell M. Reed

Warrensburg: Isabell May Reed, 91, formerly of Commercial Ave., passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in North Creek. Born January 31, 1922 in Lake George, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Jenny May (Prosser) Matteson. Known as the “hot dog lady” for the little league concession, she was a lifelong resident of the area. Isabell was a member of the Church of the Holy Cross in Warrensburg. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great granddaughter were her life. Isabell also enjoyed the world of “friendly” gambling as well as sitting on her back porch. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sons, Robert and Wayne Reed; brothers, Arthur Mattison and Ernest Matteson, who was killed in action on D-Day during WWII; and her grandson, Adam Baker; daughter in law, Bambi Reed; son in law, Michael McNeill. Isabell is survived by daughters, Joan Monahan and her husband, Ronald of Fort Ann; Ruth McNeill and her companion, Lee Mumblow of Warrensburg, Jodi Lovett of Thompson, CT; her sons, William Reed of Panama City, FL; Gerald Reed and his wife, Mary Ellen of Warrensburg; Bruce Reed and his wife, Karen of Warrensburg; Earl Reed and his fiancée, Elaine Gavey of Enfield, CT; Dale Reed of Rialto, CA; Edward Reed and his wife, Terri of Oxford, MA; sisters, Anna Baker of Warrensburg and Mary Sprague and her husband, Chris of Diamond Point. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, daughters in law, Becky Reed of Jacksonville, FL; Wayne’s widow, Joyce Reed of Warrensburg, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call on Isabell’s family from 4 to 7 pm, Friday, March 15, 2013 at Alexander-Baker Funeral Home, 3809 Main St., Warrensburg. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 7 pm, Friday, at the funeral home with Father Thomas Pettigrew, Rector of the Church of the Holy Cross officiating. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Isabell’s name to the Food Pantry at the Warrensburg First Presbyterian Church and/ or to the North Country Ministry. Burial will take place in the Warrensburg Cemetery later this spring.
